The Tea & Chat was held on Friday 18th May at Ann Westmore’s home. Thirteen members attended and as usual everyone enjoyed a good chat and a laugh about all sorts of things over a lovely cup of coffee (or tea). A donation was made towards the cost of the coffee and today £12 was raised and this is being donated to the “Barely Born” charity. Thank you to everyone who came.

Ramblers Mary Lavery and Wendy Mitchell amongst the Cowslips
On Wednesday 2nd May 8 members met at L.A. Bowl in Ryde for our normal quiet session of bowling. We had two good games with one of our ladies getting a score of 154. (We will keep the name secret for now as this could be our highest score at the end of the year.) We all wish we could bowl that well, but it doesn’t matter because we all have a lot of fun, a laugh and a lovely cup of something at half time - the hot chocolate is delicious!!
Anyone who would like to join us is welcome. Our next games will be on Wednesday 6th June at 10am.

The last Tea & Chat was held on Friday 20th April at “Fernleigh”, the home of President , Dorothy Maskell. Nine members had a good old chat and many laughs. The conversations covered a wide range of topics, as ladies do, and included the buying and wearing of ladies unmentionables!!!
Dorothy, who loves the opportunity for cooking and baking had made Welsh Cakes, Yum Yum Biscuits (Christine Tipple’s recipe) and a newly tried Sticky Honey, Almond and Banana Cake.
Tea & Chat is a good time to get to know other members better in a relaxed and happy atmosphere.

Just to point out that the Creekside Amble is an easy stroll for members with walking difficulties who would be unable to join in the Ramble. In April everyone met up at my house for coffee before filling up the cars and going to Bembridge for a nice flat surface walk, followed by an enjoyable snack lunch. The next amble will be on May 8th.

CREEKSIDE WI ST GEORGES DAY CELEBRATIONS
In true W I tradition we at Creekside WI spent a delightful afternoon celebrating St Georges day. We enjoyed platefuls of sandwiches’ along with scones and cream made by the committee and fairy cakes decorated with a red cross for St George made by our President Dorothy. A quiz was followed by a rousing chorus of great British songs; Mary Lashmar played the piano for us.
Craft and coffee morning at Mary Lashmar’s in March was enjoyed by all. More talk than work, but some knitting and embroidery was done. I did a demonstration on how to make a necklace with small beads and crochet cotton, which they all liked. Looking forward to a meeting in April.

Once again the lunch club had a very enjoyable time this month at Table Table, Seaclose Park. The food was excellent and there was plenty of chat and laughter. My sister, Jean, from the mainland, joined us and was made very welcome by all the members. Everyone was was keen to know where the next venue was, and I am thinking of a Chinese meal for April and the Propeller Inn for May, but watch this space.
We were small in number in April due to Half Term commitments and holidays but, 6 of us had 2 lovely, if noisy games. The LA Bowl was heaving due to coach loads of senior holiday makers and mums and dads with children on half term. The games were good fun for us and gave our poor old bones and muscles lots of exercise. The highest score this month was Maureen Turner who scored 119 on her first game and 122 on her second.
- Previous high scores this year are January Mary Lavery 110
- February Betty Sieler 113
- March Linda Sheasby 126
- Tied with Sylvia Poulten 126
Creekside W.I. enjoyed an “ON TRIAL” experience last Wednesday when two Magistrates guided us through a mock trial that happens in our courtrooms today. The idea was to help us understand how a magistrate court works and the role of a Magistrate. Various W I members took part the photograph from left to right defending solicitor Christina Hughes accused in the dock President Dorothy Maskel, Usher Lyn Cottrel, Chair Glory Rolfe( winger) Harry Kirby Magistrate Ann Parker ( winger) witness Carol King and Lyn Forster.
FRONT ROW crown prosecutor Pauline Kirby and Legal advisor Sally Exell. Our members were split into groups to discuss guilty or not guilty and after Tea and cake gave their verdict of guilty the punishment given was a community service order. We had a most enjoyable evening and many thanks go to Harry Kirby and Sally Exell our visiting Magistrates.
